Welcome to the ‘Music and Message’ webspace

Mastering one’s mother tongue, learning a foreign languages, playing a musical instrument and competence in arithmetic are all part of the basis of a sound and useful education. However, in the 21st century we cannot deny the impact of technology and the media, now combined to produce a generation walking around with earphones blasting music directly into the brains while oblivious to even the noises of traffic all around them.

Perhaps our job is simply to point out that their is a great and interesting history to the development of both the music and the lyrics as well as the instruments. Perhaps we can point out the social significance of many songs when they were first written, recorded or released, Maybe we can help them analyse what are some really great lyrics and delve into their historical and political significance.

Through these Music and Message projects we want to do all of these things and more and hope you enjoy watching, listening and reading some of our results which will be published using the blog/podcast rss technology and also through our educational resources website.
